Pioneer HPM-100 Upgrade Crossovers Available
As the saying goes… it’s better late than never!
Over past years there was quite an interest in the upgraded HPM-100 crossover featured in one of my articles. I was offering an assembly service to the most dedicated readers, but this was very time-consuming as all assembly was point-to-point. Nothing wrong with this type of construction, and I actually prefer it more for my own projects than PCB, but for serial production – it’s boring and tiresome.
Also, since this is not a cheap piece of kit – it had better look really good! Because we all know our gear sounds much better when it has nice shiny PCBs, all looking sweet and begging 🙂. And simple point-to-point on plywood, like in the photo, is not for everyone’s taste.
So I sure took my time with designing a PCB, and I’m really sorry to those of you who waited for this debut last year. I’m currently occupied with the construction of my new house and lab, so I can’t dedicate much time to this hobby. Also, there was a premise of a lower price, as PCB assembly is faster, but unfortunately component prices went up by a good 30%, so this PCB version now costs the same as a “hand-crafted one.” But here it goes:
Main features:
- Fully assembled and ready to install
- All components are glued to the PCB
- PCB is bonded to 12 mm plywood for mechanical rigidity
- Terminal posts for wiring
- Attachment to the speaker backplate with five self-tapping screws (included)
Two quality levels are available:

Level 1: Jantzen air-core inductors, 10 W MOX resistors, Jantzen Standard Z-Cap / Cross-Cap for the woofer, and Jantzen Standard Z-Caps for the mid-range and tweeter.

Level 2: Identical design, with the mid-range and tweeter capacitors upgraded to Jantzen Supreme series capacitors.
Due to high costs of components I will only stock Level 1 version. If both versions are out of stock – you can still back-order and shipping time is usually 1 week (up to 2 weeks max).
